They help businesses learn how their satellite stores are performing in regards to customer service, following company rules, and cleanliness. Of course the reports are all focused on helping these companies increase sales.

Mystery shoppers work 1-2 hours per assignment. They get notices from companies ahead of time as to when they want them to visit a store and gather information. They usually require you to make a decision if you can accept this assignment right away.
These companies want you to visit a store, purchase items within the categories they have set out for you, and submit a report about the customer service at that particular store. You may also be asked to visit a restaurant or a hotel to report on the food, cleanliness, and the way the staff treated you.
Then you as the mystery shopper will file your report and receive your pay.
Mystery shopping is not for people looking to get rich. These are real self-employed jobs. Mystery shopping allows you to fit assignments around your busy schedule. becoming a mystery shopper is especially appealing to at home moms.
Google “mystery shopper” or “mystery shopping” but be careful that you do not get caught in the many scams out there. Legitimate companies looking for mystery shoppers will not charge you to join them nor will they charge you for information to show you how to become a mystery shopper. If you find those types of offer, run away fast and keep looking!
