Watching Music Videos Online - Entertainment On The Internet

When the music video was born in the early 1980s, it was a pretty tame item compared to today’s productions. For the most part, they were clips from concerts, or “staged” performances with a band or artist in a studio setting, miming the words to their songs, while a higher quality recording was laid down on the tape. But they gave fans a chance to see the artists actually “perform”.

They proved to be highly popular with music fans in all genres, and soon there was a budding market for music videos as they first appeared on tapes, and then DVDs. But now, thanks to the Internet, consumers have a chance to “shop” music videos by watching them online, to see if they are really worth the sometimes high prices for the DVD.

Music videos also offer casual listeners of a particular artist or type of music, the chance to appreciate the quality of the work in question, before investing in one of their CDs, or buying some of their other music videos. Some music videos are works of art, both in their set designs, choreography, lighting and other features that have taken them far beyond the first videos.

If a web surfer has acquired the appropriate software from one of the many companies offering it free, they will be able to get free music video downloads from literally thousands of sites. The caveat though, is to make sure that the download is licensed or legal, to avoid the same type of legal hassles that followed Napster, the MP3 king of the Internet.
