The Big Decision - Designer Wedding Dress Or Not?

The day you get married is one of the most special of a girl’s life, and most of them want a wedding dress that is going to reflect that one moment in time. But with the vast array of styles, not to mention sources for wedding gowns, how do you make the right decision?

One of the first bits of advice that bridals shops and designers give, is to shop early. Finding what you really want can take a lot of prowling stores and Internet sites. But, before you can even go out and look for the wedding dress to make your dreams come true, you need to know what that looks like.

A little girl’s dreams seem to vanish into thin air when it comes down to the crunch of actually looking for a wedding gown. Sometimes it helps to take a deep breath, and sit down in front of the computer, to browse the latest styles and materials used for wedding dresses according to the season, or even the theme of a wedding. Print off the ones you like and keep them handy for comparing to others that you see.

After all, looking is free, and depending on where you saw the wedding dress that caught your eye, it may be a retailer or even clearance house that can send you out one of their free catalogues or brochures on their current stock.

If you’re into antiques, and would prefer a vintage wedding gown, starting the hunt early will give you plenty of time to visit “new to you” shops, as well as designers who specialize in replicating the gowns of particular eras. If their catalogs are in-store only, the staff is usually more than willing to supply free photocopies of the ones you like best. That way, you can take them along when considering the cost and convenience of a true antique gown against the price of one that is made to order.
