Computers should be turned off whenever they are not in use especially overnight and over the weekends.

Turn off the lights. This is a common mistake by many companies as they usually leave a few lights on all the time and by doing this it can greatly increase the energy bill. Just like the computers turn off the lights when they are not needed. This will greatly reduce your energy costs.

Turn off other machines when not in use. Other office machines should be turned off when they are not being used especially overnight and on the weekends. Such machines as photocopiers and shredders should be turned off to conserve energy.

Clean light fixtures and windows regularly. By cleaning light fixtures and windows you can reduce the light needed and cut your energy bill by up to 20%. By cleaning light fixtures you can increase efficiency and make the light better and easier to work under as well.

Lighting changes. If you switch to energy efficient lighting it may be more expensive to buy at first but in the long run you can use 10% less electricity. Energy efficient lighting also lasts longer than regular lighting therefore reducing costs even further.

Use recycled paper. You can save money on paper and money spent on buying paper by only printing when it is needed and be reusing paper for internal use. If it is a memo or something used internally you can use the non-printed side of a paper. Keep stacks of one-sided sheets available for printed material that is not very important. When the paper cannot be used again recycle it. You should have recycle bins available so you can recycle the paper instead of wasting it. This will cut down on paper costs and it is better for the environment as well.

Cut down on the use of water in bathrooms. Replacing the cistern on an older toilet can greatly reduce water consumption. Also urinals that are fitted with infa-red devices can pay for itself in as little as one year and can greatly reduce water usage in the restrooms. General upgrades on such things as toilets and faucets can greatly reduce consumption and therefore water costs are reduced as well.
