? Continuing to join business opportunities when they continue to fail. This is how many people who are starting business opportunities lose a lot of money and time.

? Believing when business opportunity offers tell you that a large amount of money can be made without a lot of work, again when it sounds to good to be true it probably is.

In order to avoid these pitfalls there is something that you can look for: a mentor. A mentor can help you as they have gone through the same things you will go through and they became successful in their business. Obviously it is best to search out a mentor that has made a success out of their home-based business. You do not want a mentor that has had many failed businesses. There are a few places you can look to find a good mentor.

? When networking ? When you are networking at different functions from seminars to lectures try to search out a mentor that has gone through what you are going through in your business.

? The Internet ? There are many home-based business forums on the Internet. You can reach out and find out who has been successful and ask other people for recommendations to who has helped them. Contact these people and see if they can mentor you.

? Mentor classes- There are home based business-mentoring courses where you can get one-on-one coaching from people who have been successful in their home businesses. The first thing you should do if you decide on a mentor course is research to see if the teacher is in fact qualified to be a mentor.
